HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC EXHIBITIONS

01а-3м.jpg

The VALOIS FEST program features exhibitions reflecting historical and cultural processes in theater, music, choreography, design, and the visual arts. The exhibitions feature paintings and graphic works, costume and set designs, porcelain, glass, and metal design objects, posters, photographs, books, and publications about the lives and works of prominent global cultural figures.

Classical music concerts and opera and ballet performances are held at the exhibition openings. Lectures, roundtable discussions, creative meetings, and other events featuring renowned artists, designers, art historians, museum specialists, gallery owners and directors, art foundations, auction house representatives, and other art experts are held throughout the exhibitions.

The historical and artistic exhibition "Theatre Art and Design XIX - XX" is one of the highlights of the VALOIS FEST program. The exhibition features rare works by Russian, British, and European artists involved in ballet and opera productions from the 19th and 20th centuries. In preparing the exhibition, the curators collaborated with art collectors, museum specialists, and directors and managers of theaters, music, and dance companies from the UK, Russia, and other countries. Many prominent individuals contributed unique artifacts—photos, letters, books, and other items from their family archives. The largest number of exhibits were provided by the British studio Kingsley's, founded in the early 1930s as a workshop producing limited-edition color and monochrome prints. The studio is notable for having employed artists who worked there, including members of the Royal Academy of Arts. Some of them were personally acquainted with the participants of Sergei Diaghilev's "Russian Seasons." Kingsley's Studio has always maintained creative collaborations with theater designers and artists. These collaborations resulted in the creation of engravings, lithographs, silkscreen prints, porcelain, ceramics, glass, and other objects. The Kingsley's art objects presented at the exhibition vividly reflect the innovative experiments in theater, music, dance, and fine art of the era.
